So, my first novel is finally available to buy on Kindle. Two years of my life!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dawn-Dreamsmith-Ravens-Tale-Book-ebook/dp/B01DS1S9DC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459696531&sr=8-1&keywords=dawn+of+the+dreamsmith

When Cole, a young man with a unique power, loses everything he has ever known, he must journey across an Empire to free the realm from the grip of an insidious cult seeking to enslave its people.

As he travels through the untamed north hunted by a deadly adversary, he forms an uneasy alliance with Raven, an enigmatic stranger pursuing her own quest for vengeance. Together, their path takes them through the darkest and most dangerous corners of the land, where even the bravest Legion soldiers fear to tread.

Meanwhile, the Empire, still bearing the scars of civil uprising, prepares to make war against a mysterious threat far to the south. Ignoring his own misgivings and murmurs of a fresh northern rebellion, Prince Adelmar, Commander of the Imperial Legion and heir to the throne, leads the invasion and encounters the only foe he cannot outmanoeuvre: his own family.

Be great if you guys could pick up a copy - you don't even need a Kindle, there's an app you can download to read it on your computer or other devices.

I've even got a character called The Impending Grume. Thanks FAC!

Oh, forgot to mention, there's a website with some bits and bobs on including character summaries and full-size versions of the maps (which my sister did, think she did really well):

http://alanratcliffe.co.uk/

And I'm on twitter now for those that like that sorta thing:

I only made it to 2% but in my defence I started late and was very tired. I picture the scene like the village in Ninjago. But so far I like the writing and it is a very professional looking e-book

Thoroughly enjoying it ALAN (hahhahhahhhahhahhahhhah shit name).

I think Messr's Eddings and Gemmell deserve a doff of the cap, but good depth and characterization, interesting premise, it is gentle yet not fluff and it has none of the plodding irksomeness of LOTR or GOT.

Needs a blowy scene soon though, I am unsure as to whether or not Raven shagged Bjorn or just slept naked with him.

The Impending Grume is the little shitbag of Labyrinth in my head....and Jan is played by MacKenzie Crook.

So, more shagging. Gemmell overused the word Gland, you are underusing it so far.

(I read three books this weekend, I read a lot).

Wife read it that way as well. Might have to look at the wording and make it more clear she is pottering about while her dad is doing the cooking.

Cheers. I've actually not read either of those (might have to try some Gemmell though, I found out a few months ago one of the older guys at the agency I do work for used to work with him back in the day... and still has one of his first manuscripts up in his loft!)

I wanted it to be a bit more of a fast-paced adventure than you might typically get in the genre, without being overly so, so glad that comes across.

I won't lie, a lot of the time I was shying away from that in the knowledge that my mum would be reading it smiley

They totally did it, by the way. I just wanted it to come across like a more mature, just something two consenting adults got up to, rather than making it seem tawdry. Also, parents reading it. I might have to shed some of those hang-ups though, I know.

Not even kidding... that is pretty much exactly how I picture those characters in my head.

If you read Gemmell then start with Morningstar, very good example.

Cheers, will look it up. I've been looking for something new to get into, and couldn't quite get enthused about reading GoT for the third time.

I tried a bit of Robin Hobb, but I didn't really get into it.
